Sanath Nagar - Hyderabad

Sanathnagar is an industrial and residential suburb of Hyderabad, India.

Earlier it was a well planned residential area for officers known as SRT quarters. But now it has grown in area and size and includes neighbouring localities such as Czech colony, parts of BK Guda, Subhash nagar colony,tulisi nagar, Jayaprakash nagar colony and the ESI area also.



Industrial area at Sanathnagar includes small and medium scale chemical, pharmaceutical, electrical and mechanical industries. Pharmaceutical companies such as Divi's, Sipra, Gland pharma, Lamco are located here. The main Post office is also located in this industrial area. Some major automobile service centres such as GM motors, TATA motors, Toyota, Chevrolet, Daewoo, Bajaj, Volvo, Skoda etc are located in this suburb.



Earlier Refrigeration major Voltas was located in this suburb. Famous Bus manufacturer Ashok Leyland and Allwyn companies existed here but not now.






Real estate boom has taken over the once peaceful Czech colony


Now with Bakelyte Hylam made a residential property purchased and dveloped by Lodha Group a gated community is coming up at sanathnagar with the name CASA Paradiso. Swamy Talkies an age old cinema theatre used to keep the public entertained which is converted into a function hall now. Major National banks such as the State bank of Hyderabad, Andhra bank area also located here. Urbanization can be seen in areas like the Czech colony, and in other pockets of this suburb.

The Sunday market on Sanathnagar-Erragadda main road is one of the busiest, selling all kinds of seconds goods and many other miscellaneous stuff.
Education



Early schools set up in this area include Little scholars school, neena School, Covells High school, St. Theresa's girls high school,Neena High School, Percy's High school, Hindu public school. Other schools located in this suburb are the ,vasistha vidyalaya is an excellet school etc., have come up lately. Hindu college for women is a prominent college in this suburb.

St.Theresa's hospital is one of the earliest hospital set up here. This hospital has recently undergone renovation to accommodate more wards. The government owned ESI hospital is also present here. Chest hospital, TB hospital, Hospital for mental health are other government institutions located close to this suburb, providing health care for the poor.




Culture

The citizens of this area are peaceful. People from different backgrounds and a mix of religions are present here. Christianity was brought to this area by the salesian missionaries who have brought early education to this area. Famous churches in this area are the St.Theresa's Church, Baptist Church and St.Paul's church at Czech colony. The Mosque close to the bus depot is a famous mosque for the Muslims, their concentration also being more in that area.Which is known as 'Jafri Masjid' and 'Iddgah' around the masjid is also vey famous.

Sanathnagar is known for its municipal parks which can be found all over this suburb creating a natural atmosphere. The recent Laxmi Yadav park was a good addition to the existing parks and has now become the most loved park by the citizens. Wide open areas such as the Welfare ground, Vinayak ground, Nehru ground etc provide good sporting avenues for kids and the youth. The Sanathnagar-Fathenagar-Balkampet flyover provides a good aerial view of the Begumpet airport and is enjoyed by the public in the evenings.

Sanathnagar has an APSRTC Bus Terminal, linking it to all the major suburbs of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Sanathnagar has a MMTS station providing local rail connecitvity to important parts in Hyderabad.
